The Balagne
It can be visited with the famous little train that transits along the sea, offering the opportunity to enjoy splendid views, without the tension of driving. Its main towns L’Ile Rousse and Calvi, and their small commercial ports, are joined by a beautiful scenic road full of bays, inlets and famous beaches.
If you want a sudden change of scene without traveling too long distances within a classic seaside holiday, just leave the golden beaches and try your hand at exploring the inland, full of fabulous villages a few kilometers away from each other. You can visit the characteristic Lumio, Corbara, Speloncato, Feliceto, the delightful village of Pigna, and the famous S. Antonino. You can also appreciate the Bonifato Forest or the suggestive stream in the Valle du Fango, where you can take a fabulous swim in its natural pools.
Scandola Natural Reserve
A marine protected area of volcanic origin, practically impossible to reach on foot, but visitable by boat (shuttle services are available from Calvi, Galeria or Porto).
With its steep cliffs, unusual red rock conformations and splendid pristine coves, it offers breathtaking landscapes.
Corte, the ancient capital:
Surrounded by the Restonica Valley, with its rivers, high mountains and beautiful lakes, where you can spend a nice day at high altitude.
The Beaches
The Gulf of Calvi is formed by a long beach of fine sand and the adjacent pine forest, both offering the possibility of splendid walks.
Going north, you can discover the fabulous beaches of Algajola, Bodri, Lozari and de l’Ostriconi, all of splendid fine sand.
